  Reduce people's religosity through transcranial magnetic stimulation...

  found this interesting article in the december 2015 issue of the australasian science journal, on whether it might be possible to change a person's beliefs by stimulating their brain via transcranial magnetic stimulation (tms).. "the study by us and uk researchers recruited 38 undergraduate students, with each reporting they held significant religious beliefs and conservative political views.

  participants in the experimental condition received tms to the pmfc for a period of 40 seconds, a process that reduces neural activity in this region for up to an hour.

  control participants underwent a similar process, but with a low level of tms that has no effect on the functioning of the pmfc.. the researchers found that those who had received tms reported significantly less conviction in their beliefs concerning god, angels and heaven following a reminder of death than those in the non-tms control group.

  when donald johanson and his colleagues returned to the afar region of ethiopia in 1974 they were full of optimism.

  it was their second season searching for human fossils around hadar.

  the previous november johanson had found a fossilised knee joint that was dated to more than 3 million years ago.

  She had a triangular jaw compared to our U-shaped one and a chimpanzee's rectangular jaw. Their upper torso was wider at the bottom than on top with narrow shoulders. And her arms went down to her knees.All in all Lucy was one ugly lady.

  wt claims their website is the 'most translated' and claims over 750 languages.

  but in the drop down language menu there are only about 50. so where are the others?

  The good news is that most of those languages won't have too many speakers.

  The bad news is that there are not likely to be any "apostate" websites in those languages. I know that Spanish has apostate websites but does anyone know if there are any in Thai or Swahili?

  Next steps for the Austrailian Royal Commission

  since the watchtowers' lawyers have (a) failed to make any recommendations to the arc that would bring the watchtower up to date with "best practices and procedures" (b) have failed to submit a proposal for victim restitution (c) have failed to secure funding for a redress scheme and (d) have completely dismissed all the arcs' findings - what's the royal commission's next course of action?.

  i see two possibilities:.

  ) negotiate a settlement with the watchtower.

  I would expect that the Watchtower would issue a revised version of its manuals stating that all child abuse cases be reported to the police. They have too much to lose if they don't change but then their arrogance and stupidity is beyond reason.

  some areas of our home are very nice, tidy, clean.

  and other rooms are just junk and clutter and clothes and papers.... omg.

  and now that we are getting older, we realize that we face a time of transition -- and this is hard to cope with too, as we believed the lie that we would never get old, etc.

  I have a room mate which considers himself a minimalist. He helped me clear up some space in my living room. There was some stuff that I just did not want to let go so I put it all in a fifty gallon trash bin and put it in a corner of my bedroom.

  pandorasbox1914 forty years ago, when I was a teenage JW, I thought that Stairway to Heaven was a cryptic song referring to the Watchtower organization. I interpreted the line "Buying the stairway to heaven" as referring to their belief that you can buy salvation with works.

  Those brothers I mentioned this to thought I was crazy. Guess I was.

  I wonder if any significant changes between the printed version and the disc carry over into the other languages. I bet that they haven't even bothered to revise the Spanish, German or Polish CDs which might contain the originally intended message. Might be interesting to check the January 1st 1989 Watchtower that Watchtower-Free illustrated above in those other languages.
